Residents can currently put coffee grounds, eggs, fruit, tea bags, vegetable peelings, and cooked and uncooked fish, meat and poultry in their green waste wheelie bins. This green waste is collected once every two weeks and used for compost.

Discussing an indoor "worm bin" to nurture worms year-round and create compost, Pruitt and Anderson assured all that the bins don't smell and aren't a biohazard. "Worms aren't really dirty, they consume vegetable matter," Pruitt said.
